The Mirror Series: Banke Meshida-Lawal (BMPro)
The Architect of modern African beauty
In an industry often driven by trends and visibility, Banke Meshida-Lawal stands apart.
For over two decades, she has built her name on precision, discipline, and consistency. In doing so, she has quietly shaped how Nigerian beauty is defined, experienced, and respected.
Her story is not one of virality. It is one of legacy.
Creativity Was Never a Discovery, It Was a Language
Long before makeup became a profession, creativity already existed in her world.
She grew up around art, sound, and making things with her hands. She watched her father transform raw materials into musical instruments. At the same time, she found her own fascination in colour, texture, and experimentation through play.
Even as a child, she was drawn to transformation. She mixed, created, and reimagined long before she understood it as a career path.
The Unexpected Door That Opened Beauty
Her academic path did not begin in beauty.
She studied with early intentions shaped around diplomacy and global exposure. However, university created something she did not expect: space.
That space allowed her to experiment, observe, and create freely. What started as personal makeup routines for lectures slowly began to attract attention. Roommates noticed. Referrals followed. Eventually, a bridal opportunity shifted everything.
That moment marked a turning point.
BMPro Was Built From a Problem She Could Not Ignore
As her artistry developed, so did her awareness of a clear gap in the market.
Most beauty products were not designed with Nigerian skin tones and needs in mind.
Instead of adjusting her work to fit existing limitations, she chose to build something different.
BMPro began as a small, focused solution. Over time, it expanded into a brand with over 200 formulations. Each product is shaped by research, precision, and lived experience within African beauty contexts.
Creativity Did Not Stay in One Lane, It Expanded
For Banke, creativity was never confined to makeup. It was a way of seeing.
That perspective naturally extended into photography. She began documenting clients with intention and emotional clarity, which later evolved into Molten Studios.
From there, her creative lens expanded again into interior spaces, particularly environments often overlooked. In each space, she applies the same philosophy: beauty must be intentional, not accidental.
Reinvention Is Her Real Signature
If there is one constant in her journey, it is evolution.
She does not resist change. Instead, she studies it, adapts to it, and refines her work through it.
For her, success is not defined by speed. It is defined by consistency. Not perfection, but depth.
Her legacy is a reminder that when talent is disciplined and passion is sustained, it does not fade. It multiplies.
Wow well done
